It has been a while since I have posted.
Therefore, many ideas for a today's title come to mind:
A. Spring into Summer
B. Coincidences
C. Along the Way
So, that is why "All of the Above" fits best.
In all the years posting island mettle - and before that the blog for Cottage on the Bay - I never thought to use this title. This week it just seems appropriate. When one lives on an Island, one depends on the ferry. It is often the topic of conversation. Will the ferry run? How many runs did the ferry make yesterday? As Winter takes over and bone-chilling conditions set in, concerns on the ferry runs become even more evident. This past week was no different.
I was a little late arriving at the Sunday afternoon Music Fest concert but good fortune shined and what a sight I saw!
Summer brings many folks with Island connections back to Washington Island. Recently, Sunset Resort welcomed Amy Brown Crouse and her family. Amy, the daughter of Dee (daughter of Maxine Engstrom) and Tim Brown (the first Manager of the Rec Center) shares her recollections and feelings in this guest column. Welcome Back, Amy!
April is a strange time weatherwise on the Island. One day can be sunny. Another day, the snow will decide to fall again. Make that more than one day. People who live on the Island at this time of year deserve a gold star. There was one good thing that started the week, reminding me of the Island. it deserves a mention.
