Bits & Pieces

This week on Figenschau Bay

This week on Figenschau Bay

It's September.  How did that happen? That sun is sure moving over as it sets these days. I need to accept that Summer is also moving on, but it is not easy.

Summer continues to be Summer - weather wise - on the Island and that means the events planned this Labor Day Weekend should come off just fine.

Seasonal produce continues here. I hope more will be on hand at that pop up farmers market at the Red Cup this Saturday morning because these tomatoes were amazing. Nothing like tomatoes at this time of year is there?

Let's be fair. Chocolate is important, too. Looks like Deb at Fair Isle Books plans to celebrate it.

As happenings move to a different speed, there was time since I last posted for a wish that has had to be delayed...for a while. Fortunately, the weather held, water level stayed high (enough), and a wish was granted. Lew and Steve took a trip to Fairport, a township on the southern tip of the Garden Peninsula in Michigan. They were able to take in Poverty Island on the way. Maybe this time of year isn't so bad.

I mean the weather has cooled a few degrees. Just in time for school on the Island to start. See this flower? It came out just in time.

Miss Teagan started second grade and was able to take this special flower to her Aunt Barbara Krueger, who serves as Counselor at the Island School. Not bad...maybe not a bad time of year after all.

As for what is happening this weekend and next?

When I saw this Round Up/Salute to the Island I knew I could do no better. So, I say thank you to the Door County Visitor's Bureau as I share it with all of you. Check out this link!

I did not see this though in the Visitor's Bureau link. Perhaps this will make everyones weekend easier. In addition, next week Mann's Store hours are changing. So is the ferry schedule, the Alby, and the Art and Nature Center. Might want to call ahead to check before heading out.
